Rebecca Miller, OD, completed her undergraduate studies at Purdue University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with honors. During her time at Purdue, she received the prestigious Howard Hughes grant for her outstanding research in Biology. Notably, she also contributed to the development of prescription Dry Eye medications during a research stint in California. Emphasizing the importance of medical missions in her education, Dr. Miller participated in impactful trips to Costa Rica, Zimbabwe, and Ecuador, where she provided eye care to underserved communities, relishing the opportunity to immerse herself in different cultures and languages.
Following her Purdue journey, Dr. Miller pursued her Doctor of Optometry degree at the InterAmerican University of Puerto Rico, graduating with honors and earning the Best Thesis award in her class. During her four years at the university, she was elected as the American Optometric Association's Student Liaison, representing Optometry students at national and international meetings. Studying in Puerto Rico fulfilled her desire to learn a second language.
After completing her optometric training, Dr. Miller and her husband relocated to North Texas, where she has dedicated nearly a decade to serving patients. Choosing the path of an Optometrist, her motivation lies in assisting patients through the visual and ocular health changes that occur throughout life. Dr. Miller, having undergone LASIK herself, comprehends the patient journey well. She is committed to providing education on refractive surgery options and developing customized solutions for ocular health needs, including care for Complex Dry Eye, Glaucoma, Cataracts, and Ocular Disease. Her treatment plans integrate natural therapies, prescription medications, and surgical solutions, leveraging both the eye's natural abilities and cutting-edge technology.
Beyond her clinical practice, Dr. Miller actively shares her experiences and expertise with Optometrists nationwide. She hosts Continuing Education courses multiple times a year and contributes articles to Optometry and Ophthalmology Journals. Outside the clinic, she cherishes family time with her husband and two young boys in McKinney, Texas, actively participating in their community, church, and schools.
